Vassilikos is miles from anywhere... but some people like that!

Right up in the hills on the southern-most tip of the Eastern Penisula you'll find absolutely loads of green stuff! The main village is pretty small and to be honest, I've not really seen too much of what's up there, as I've only really encountered the large Louis Hotel Complexes at Maseratzi. The hotels, pictured above & below, are of the large all-inclusive variety and my dad stayed there last summer.
I found that when I visited my family, there were a lot of German and Swedish people staying there. Now some people enjoy mixing with different cultures, however these complexes are about 30 mins walk to the nearest shop, so if you don't, there's not really much you can do about it!
Some information for Summer 2001 is that Thompson are taking over the Palazzo Di Zante and turning it into an exclusive Gold Hotel. This means it should be majority English, however children under the age of 16 cannot stay at Gold Hotels as it's a product designed for adults & couples only.
I couldn't tell you anything about eating out or bars, as I've not tried any, but if you take a look at the links page check out the JMC Website. It's got some good info there. The food in the Hotel complexes was fab though - they got a massive assortment of freshly prepared food in a gigantic buffet!
Transfer times from the Airport is quite long, as the only way to get here is up the winding mountain road, which can get a bit hairy! Once there though, the scenery is breath-taking.

Beaches...
One thing that Vassilikos has an abundance of is beaches...
The Hotel Complexes sit on the edge of a cliff looking out over the sea and there's a private lift that takes you down to their own private beach.
If you want to be really greedy and go out and find one just for yourself, it has been recommended to me to start at the veryend of the peninsula and work your way back in. This way you find the best ones at the beginning of your holiday...
Famous beaches include Banana Beach, so called because it has beautiful golden sand and it's shaped - wait for it - like a banana! St. Nicolas Beach is famous for it's watersports - you can go on the Banana, the ringos, paragliding or even take a turn with the fishes with a Scuba Diving lesson... Gerakas is another well-known beach, though I have'nt visited that one myself!

Bars...
There is only one club that I know of in Vassilikos and that is Logos. Though 'Club' isn't quite the right word. It's a wonderful Greek place with a real tree growing in the middle of it! It's a thoroughly relaxing place and a great spot for chilling out.
